Upholding the principles of conflict transformation

With the addition of eight new members, the Global Coalition for Conflict Transformation is now comprised of over seventy organizations, each committed to upholding the principles of conflict transformation.

These new members are:

  • TawasulPalestine – promotes a culture of peace, enhances democratic values and acts as a catalyst for non-violent communication between all levels of the Palestinian society, particularly women and young people;
  • Wi’amPalestine – focuses on helping to resolve disputes within the Palestinian community by complementing the traditional Arab form of mediation, called Sulha, with Western models of conflict resolution within Palestine;
  • Documenta – Center for Dealing with the PastCroatia – aims to develop social and individual processes of dealing with the past – as well as publishing research on war incidents and violations of human rights – in order to build sustainable peace in Croatia and the wider region;
  • Institute for the Study of Asymmetric ConflictIsrael – attempts to understand how “evolutionary” pressures induce organizations and states to perpetuate rather than resolve conflicts, hoping to find strategies to encourage the transition from “permanent crisis” to constructive conflict resolution;
  • Press for PeaceKashmir – works to create a favourable environment for the establishment of permanent peace, secure livelihood and sustainable development in all parts of the state of Jammu and Kashmir by equipping individuals, groups and communities with needed knowledge, advocacy, research and training;
  • West African Network for Peacebuilding – Cote d’IvoireIvory Coast – engages diverse actors to establish a platform for dialogue, experience sharing and learning, thereby complementing efforts at ensuring sustainable peace and development in West Africa and beyond.
  • US Alumni Association in Bosnia and HerzegovinaBosnia and Herzegovina – using the US experience of its members, the Association works on realizing projects in a number of fields, including developing economic and political institutions, ethnic reconciliation, education and science, technology, and sustainable urban and rural development.
  • Civic AllianceMontenegro – contributes to establishing a democratic society by strengthening capacities and supporting civil initiatives, protecting and promoting human rights and monitoring the work of public institutions.
