Main Aims and Objectives

The main objective of the organization is to bring a healthy society through education, culture, the environment, human rights and social development.

Upholding the Principles of Conflict Transformation

Manipur has been under martial law since 1960, and is now one of the areas with most armed conflict. The organization’s founder grew up as a human rights activist and was previously a political prisoner. By opening new chapters of communication and by eradicating all barriers and disturbances, the organization works to establish partnerships that turn problems into opportunities for sustainable development.

Where and with Whom?

The organization focuses on Manipur, which has been under martial law since the sixties, leaving many people traumatized. To transform the political equation, it requires that the wounds and trauma of the victims be first attended to.

The Society for Indigenous Development, Manipur is working to create common ground for the collective future of all dialects, by respecting their core identities. It shows people’s understanding is a dynamic system. Transforming the conflicts once and for all requires that energies of conflicting parties be used in collective and participatory ways.
