The ongoing civil war in Syria – the origins of which can be traced back to 2011 and the Arab Spring – has lead to 220,000 deaths and over three million refugees, with the very existence of the country brought into question.

Mobaderoon Network aims to promote peaceful coexistence through dialogue and understanding at global, regional and local levels. Mobaderoon is a pool of more than 5,000 social activists in eight governorates and a network for 52 local organizations, launched in Syria from 2010. These members were engaged and empowered to develop their own initiatives (local projects funded by the network) with focused capacity building programs, such as Peace Ambassadors, Social Leadership, and Active Citizens.
